Hi Friends,
We've got a two more weeks worth of grab-n-go Spark Bags to share from the Hampton Community Library.
Each week, we have an activity prepared to *spark* curiosity. Explore physics, chemistry, art, music, yoga & more, then share what you created on the library Facebook or Instagram. This week we explore measurement, point-of-view & empathy.
Just Imagine...all the things you could discover with Xtra Powerful Eyesight. Would you rather see the tiniest things or the massive things?
Task 1: Use a ruler to measure out 1 square foot (inside or outside). Use the magnifying glass & really look…what can you see?
Check out the series of "One Square Foot" series by David Silver & do more investigation in a variety of environments: backyard, woods, arctic, pond. Here's a link to the library collection.
Task 2: Read about someone who is different than you are…can you find ways you are also the same?
Not sure where to look? Try these resources:
-call the library & speak to a librarian :) we love to help!
-check out the American Library Association
I found this really special version of I'm Gonna Like Me by Jamie Lee Curtis. Caregivers can read the story aloud & with tandem ASL storytelling:
“How much of the nose on your face can you see, unless someone holds a mirror up to you?”~Isaac Asimov
Don't you just love those illustrations? After storytime, you could go outside to gather stones & make your own story on the grass!
Or if the weather channel is correct, ya might need to put on the rain boots to puddle-splash worm-hunt mud-make!
Maybe some of you wanna just cuddle up a little longer with someone special:
Toodleloo, Kangaroos!
