We’re in Green Phase!!

Oh! How exciting it is be to be Green!  The Community Center and Library have been cleaned and sanitized.  The library furniture and PCs have been cleaned and rearranged for social distancing to give us a fresh start! In Green Phase, we will be happy to see your smiling eyes (finally)! Of course, it’s only your eyes (you will still have to wear a mask), but we will be happy to see you anyway!  We have set up protocols to quarantine items before we check them in; we are asking for your patience as items won’t be removed from your account immediately.  There will be NO FINES assessed throughout the summer.  While we cannot do programs in the library, look to our website for all the fun virtual programs and events the Allegheny County Children’s Librarians have prepared. We are so excited to announce our new summer reading virtual program for all ages- JUST IMAGINE! It’s so easy to sign up online and record your books!

            During the Green Phase we ask for patience and a sense of humor.  We will stumble as we learn this new way of bringing library service to you.  Currently, there are thousands of items that must be accounted for, sorted out, returned to their owning libraries and shipped to other libraries throughout the county.  We will be busy filling all the holds requests that had been placed during the early weeks of the Red Phase and doing our best to serve you!   Hopefully by July, you can start placing new holds or transferring your wishlists to holds.  Until then keep creating those wishlists of all the new stuff you would like to experience!

            The most exciting part is we are going to open on a limited basis on Mondays!  Our new hours will be Monday, Friday, and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.   These hours have been chosen to give staff time to quarantine, sanitize and process items and keep the library clean for your browsing pleasure!

            The staff and I have missed you all very much and as Kermit the Frog once said   “It Ain’t easy being Green” but we will try!
