With school being officially closed here in Pennsylvania for the remainder of the year, my kids are super excited to help make fingerplay, nursery rhyme & game demos to share. Everyone was especially enamored with the Loud & Quiet game;)
Even big kids can still enjoy playing around with words & songs. Nursery rhymes are a great way to practice rhythm of language, which helps them to become proficient readers.
One of my favorites is This Little Piggie
This little piggie went to market
This little piggie stayed home
This little piggie had roast beef
This little piggie had none
And this little piggie went wee-wee-weeeee-wiweee all the way home
Whether playing a rowdy game of Uno, setting up the Monopoly board or sorting blocks, games are a great way to teach kids about numbers. Things like sequencing, dividing & matching are fundamental to developing numeracy skills.
We love to hear see what you've been up to---share in the comments or on our Facebook page.
